So I've moved to Winnipeg. It went smooth, easy and cold with thanks to Katy, my dad and Owen. Although Winnipeg is a shithole in the winter, and I'm still a little nervous because of it's stabby reputation, it's so nice being in a city where I don't know everyone, and walking around in places that aren't completely familiar and boring to me. My first two days in Winnipeg were spent unpacking, organizing and walking around. My soundtrack to most of this has been A$AP Rocky's new album, "Long Live A$AP." This shit is so good! I was a little worried because his single, Fuckin' Problems is featuring a million rappers, and lots of G's will take the route where they just load up on others' fame, trying their best to have radio singles. To my delight, there's a few songs that are featuring others, such as Kendrick Lamar or Dr. Dre, but there's lots of just A$AP all by himself, just the way I like him!
Goldie and Fuckin' Problems are huge bangers, and Phoenix is my current favorite slow jam. Piano in rap? Yessss pleassse. Gospel-ish "oooh's" in the background? Always. Rocky's weirdo low voice? Bring it. Too many "N" words? Nah... now I can't sing along. But despite that minor flaw for a lil white gal like m'self, this song is DOPE!
I give "Long Live A$AP" ten gold grills out of ten.
I am still hoping to blog more this year, but without internet at our 'partment it's a little tough to listen to new music or blog. Plus I'm super busy hanging out with Katy, making errrmeal together and hanging out, watching Parks & Recreation, running errands, hanging with friends, seeing shows, beautifying the apartment, etc. But I'm sure once I'm a little more settled I will lug my big huge lap top to a cafe and try to be better.
