JUST LOVE 'EM continued!

Cilantro

It's been a while since I just loved em'd! I guess I didn't think out the title very well, since cilantro isn't an "em." Whatever! The first time I realized I loved cilantro, I didn't even know it was cilantro! It all started back when I had just moved to Victoria and ate at The Noodle Box.. I couldn't place the taste in a little box full of delicious flavors I had never tasted in Brandon. One fateful day when I was out for breakfast with my good friend Jade, we were reading the "You Pissed Me Off" section in the Monday Magazing (my favorite, besides the creepy "I Saw You" section). Someone had written:

"Cilantro, stay out of my food, you taste like soap!"

And then I knew! It was cilantro! Ever since I've been putting hearty portions on everything that makes sense. The smell of cilantro is one of my favorites! I think if I ever got married, I would walk down the isle with a bouquet of cilantro.

Today I made cilantro pesto with jalapeno, parmesan and punkin seeds. It's a recipe I've been dying to try for about two years, but was too lazy? Too scared of how delicious it would be, maybe? Well it is cream your jeans amazing! I am excited to try it on everything, and nervous for it to run out all at the same time. I love you, cilantro.

Last Name London

Theophilus London is awesome. I want him to be my cool, stylin' friend that I take to parties (if there were any to go to) and will slow dance with me when I'm the only girl without a partner during slow-dance-time at parties. That happens, right?

He has a new remix album out, which I don't think I'm tooooo pumped on, because I don't wanna ruin his songs with shitty dub step breakdowns. However, this song from his latest album is pretty good, and worth two watches! You almost hafta.

There are lots of songs off of his "I Want You" mixtape that got me lovin' Theo, like Starry Eyed, Flyin' Overseas, Oops and Marvin Gaye cover, I Want You.. (best opener for a DJ set ever) but this next video was the one that I watched with clasped hands, a big smile and a single tear. Makes me want to go to Soprano's in Victoria tonight alone, and wait for Stacy to jump up on the stage, push "Short Ass" over (who's obviously killing it on the air guitar to Guns n Roses) and sing to me in his leather jacket and penny loafers.

Peach Mouse

I think it is safe to say that Beach House are one of my favorite bands. I is too busy writing a paper on The Last Unicorn (I know, right?!) to go into details about how great Victoria Legrands voice is, how or how much I love their organs and keyboards. But I wanted to share the 2nd song that the band have posted from their upcoming album, Bloom which should be out May 15! Whoo summer!

HBD 2 ME, HYFR

Because Drake knew it was my birthday today, he decided to release one of the best videos of 2012 for it. (NOT EVEN LYING ITS AWESOME) This song makes me laugh because of "Shit Black Girls Say" and makes me thumbs up my laptop cause of how great it is. I've been appreciating the video side of music lately, and this one totally satisfies my craving for vids with low saturation and bright color contrasts. Check out the part around 1 minute in, and then at 2:36.. dzamn. And look at the baby Drake footage! Looks just the same! Far apart eyebrows! So one of those cool lil kids where you envy their dance moves.. y'know, like those little Mauritius girls that shake it like they're in a Missy Elliot video whenever Island Vibe plays at Lady of the Lake.

So my birthday is officially Bat Mitzfah themed tomorrow, in hopes to make it as fun as this video. And as fun as the night my friends and I once had in Dale and Mutts filthy apartment when I was home to visit for the summer, listening to the song below, and raising and lowering Katy on a chair, having our own super cool and probably a lot more sloppy Bat Mitzfah.

After Laughter

I watched "Lucky Number Sleven" a few nights ago. I know it's old, but I had never gotten around to it and it always intrigued me. I thought it was super shitty, the ol' crazy twist ending, Morgan Freeman trying to be a bad guy, Lucy Liu as the super annoying 'quirky girl', and it's one of those really "smart" movies, like a try hard version of a Quentin Tarantio film. It takes tips from movies like Snatch and those other European gangster films where you can't understand what the 'ell they're saying. Like this movie:
The best part of the movie was when this song came on, and not because it was fitting for the scene. This song reminds me of Katy and Meghan, and how they knew about it and I didn't. Sooo good.

Lemonade

A handsome dude sent me a link to some live performances by super-weirdos, CocoRosie. Lemonade is my favorite song from their most recent album, Grey Oceans and this live version is amazing. Like the Grimes video I just posted, it's filmed for the Seattle radio station, KEXP, which I'm quickly discovering showcases amazing music and videos. (Why can't KX96 be like that? Guess we're stuck to listening to a rotation of the Spin Doctors, Pearl Jam, Nickelback and Foreigner)

I can't listen to CocoRosie all the time, they definitely have a time and a place and you probably don't wanna throw them on in front of friends you don't know very well, (I'm glad I have my weirdo friends Sara and Meghan to listen to them with!) but their live performances are awesome! This version of "Lemonade" is heavier on the keyboards than the album version, which sounds great when the opera-ey sister (not the weird moustached baby-voice sister) sings over them. You also get to see how they make all their sounds, they use kid toys, tiny drum pads and little bells, and on the KEXP video of "Fairy Paradise" they have oboes (probably, I don't know ma instruments, maybe it's a trumpet) harps, and a beat boxer!

LETS GET WEIRD!
